The Results…
Posted by Chuck on February 8th, 2008
Wow! Thank y’all for all the great comments, emails, texts and phone calls. It sho did make me feel loved….or at least greatly liked!
So, here’s the results: They found that I have Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. They found a few ulcers in the lining of my esophagus and they took three biopsies. I should have the results of those in 7 to 10 days. They found no polyps or tumors in the intestines, so that’s good. They’ve got me on Pamine Forte, Nexium and Alinia and I get to go back in 8 weeks and have another “down the throat” exam. Yay…
I know many of you have been through the whole colonoscopy thing so you know what a pain in the ass the whole “cleaning you out” routine is. I had one hell of a rough evening last night. Plus it was a whole 45 hours without eating any solid food. Boy howdy I sure did wolf me some grub down this evening and guess what? Ten minutes ago I took a dump….a regular dump. No squirts and no pain. Ah, it was great. Praise the Lord and pass the toilet paper!
Again, thank you all for showing such concern! Have a great weekend!

Glad to hear you survived the ordeal! Sounds like a lot of meds, but if they work, that’s all that matters. Maybe now I can say “Chuck Still Likes Poo” again lol.

Yay! Good for you. Glad it’s nothing too serious. Did they give you a list of foods/drinks to be avoided (for the IBS)? It really worked for me (to change my diet/habits), and I didn’t have to take any medicine. Of course, if I had GERD, I’d be popping pills like there’s no tomorrow…

I’m just glad that you know what’s going on now. That seems to me the worst part of most situations, not knowing. I’m oh-so-grateful to hear you took a regular dump, I know how much you enjoy your poops!!
Call me later and I’ll give you the lowdown on Madeline & the hospital.

Well, that’s a bummer. Could be worse I guess. Good luck with it. I’m sure they’ll have you shittin’ like normal again in no time.

I always feel GREAT after the colonoscopy is over and I can eat again. My bowels are very happy for at least a couple days. I’m wondering if the “clean out” thing, however nasty, would be a good thing every once in while even w/o a medical reason . . . I have IBS, but only the diarrhea side of it. I have never, not once in my life, been constipated. Not even when I was pregnant. (I just love the TMI, can you tell?)
GERD bites. My dad and sis both have it and my son did as a baby (he’s over it now). My dad’s was so bad that they had to delay his triple bypass (a few years ago) until they could get his esophagus healed (it was causing bleeding so he was anemic).
Glad no polyps or anything in the lower bowel. That’s great! Also glad you are eating and feeling good. Hopefully the meds will help.

Oh MAN! I couldn’t access MY blog or YOURS for the past week, and had no idea. I’m so sorry. I have a feeling that I’m going to be right there with you. I have a lot of the same symptoms as you. Just wonderful. Maybe you passed it through the computer lines.
Thinking of you.

Glad to hear they found out what was causing all the pain and thankful that its not anything more serious.

Glad they figured out what was wrong. I had a friend who had IBS, and until he was cured, when he would belch, his breath would literally smell like shit. Load up on the Altoids!
Listen to the docs. They’ll get you straightened out.
Ain’t it nice to be able to fart again?

Colonoscopies, IBS and taking a ‘regular’ dump …. yep, it’s Chuck’s blog! lol
At least now you know what the problem is, and you can do what’s needed to stay regular.
I’m glad you weren’t completely traumatized by the whole thing.

But can you serve up the gravy now without paying the price? I mean, that is what’s most important. Right?
Glad to know you’re gonna make it long enough to pick up the tab on those wings and beer.

A painful rectum is never fun! Ok I lied. There are times it is fun but that is a whole different story that I’ll skip telling right now.

So glad to hear that they’ve figured out what’s wrong so they can treat it. The worst is the waiting and not knowing. I think my Ex had the same thing, only they could never figure it out, at least while we were married.
