All The Mothers In The House Say HEY!!

Ladies, I want you to know that I’m coming out of my temporary hiatus to let you know that you’re very special. Today is your day. Even if you’ve never actually given birth to your own offspring I bet there is a child or several children somewhere who look to you as a very influential figure in their lives. In my opinion, based on the way I’ve been raised, there is no one as revered as the woman who gave you life. My Mom has been so much to me during my thirty-eight years. She’s my good friend, my supporter, my fan and she loves me terribly. She’s also here visiting me as I write this, which makes it even more special.
I hate that my children haven’t had the “mother experience” in their lives as I have, nor do they have a mother to revere. Their mom cares more about her own life than that of her children. It’s sad but unfortunately it’s very true. For four years now I’ve played the part of mom and dad to my kids. Luckily I’ve had Susan who, even through she’s had no experience, has done her best to be a top notch step mom. Here at my house we sometimes joke and call Susan the “bonus mom“, but actually it isn’t too much of a joke. She has been a bonus, and my kid’s lives are richer because of her. They may not totally see it now, at age 13 and 6, but they definitely will someday.
Okay, the purpose of this post has totally gotten away from me…I want to wish all you moms out there a very Happy Mother’s Day! You all deserve a day to relax and enjoy time spent however you’d like! I hope you get the chance to do so.

OK, you had me worried there for a second, thinking Mother’s Day, arghhh… I haven’t got flowers… But of course it’s on a different day over here.

Thanks for your good wishes. I am blessed to have two special little people in my life. Only not so little any more. The one will turn 8 in a few weeks. I went to his baseball game yesterday and he told the coach he had to play well as he had “guests.” He did well - got 2 runs.
Your kids will be fine. YOU have given them what they need, and Susan also. And you did so because YOU had a good mother.
