Chuck’s Mini Vacation…
Posted by Chuck on 19th April 2007
We had a nice little spring break get-a-way at my parent’s home. I took the kids, (Susan had to stay home and work), and we spent three days hanging out in beautiful East Tennessee. On Tuesday the kids and I drove over to Gatlinburg, Tennessee for a day of excitement in the beautiful Smoky Mountains. We went to the Aquarium of the Smokies and enjoyed looking at the all the fish, including the man eating sharks. We spent a couple hours there and then we went and had lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe.
This is one of the several street shots I took while we walked along the sidewalk.

As we were walking back to the car we passed a chair lift thing where you could ride up to the top of the mountain and back again. For some reason I got the urge to take the ride and I talked the kids into joining me. I normally wouldn’t have even considered it due to my fear of heights. I paid the $30 and had my daughter get in the chair in front and the boy and I got in the one behind her. I took this as we were going up.

Here’s me and the boy. We were quite a few feet off the ground. Can you see the fear in my face?

And here’s the view from the top, looking down on the town. Hard to tell in this picture, but it’s quite a view.

It was a much needed little break for all of us, but we’re back home now. I’ve got a big day of catching up with work on Friday then it’s the weekend. Wow, I just realized this is the first time I’ve shown pictures of my kids on my blog. I doubt it’ll become a habit. Besides, if you want to be a stalker freak you’ll have to get through me first!
Oh, I almost forgot…I took a video while we were coming back down the mountain. I’ve tried for the past hour to figure out how to post the damn thing and can’t get it right. Instead I’ll offer you the opportunity to click on this link if you’d like to see it. It’s pure cinematic genius!
