A new chapter in the life of Chuck and his family…

I’ve really been wrestling with what to post about today. On one hand there is a confession I’d like to make. Something I’d love to put out there for your consideration. Sorta like a “coming out of the closet” kind of moment (without being gay), but I probably shouldn’t. I don’t think I’m ready for y’all to be privy to this particular part of my life just yet. So I guess I’ll move on to Plan B.
The Chuckster’s are now a one income family. Yes, it’s true. Susan quit her job last Wednesday. I’ve debated about whether I should even mention it, but I figured I’d probably say something at some point that might throw up a red flag. So as not to confuse you, like you all even really care, I thought I’d fill y’all in.
She had been offered a new job at her current company’s competition, making a helluva lot more than she was making before. Unfortunately for us the two companies ended up suing each other, on a unrelated issue, so to cover their ass, “new company” wouldn’t give an official offer of employment without “old company’s” blessing; she had to be let out of her non-competition clause. “Old company” said no way and made all kinds of threatening statements and actions. It pissed her off so much that Tuesday night we stayed up late discussing the whole situation for hours. We ended up agreeing that she didn’t need to put up with shit like this. Y’all may remember, if you’ve been reading me for a while, that she’s faced many discriminatory actions from her managers over the 3.5 years she’s been there. I ended up writing her a very scathing letter of resignation and she turned it in Wednesday morning. Since then the shit has hit the fan for the management of “old company”. She even got a call from the Regional V.P. on Friday. So maybe the end of this story is still undecided. This whole process has been very hard on her. Over the past five days I’ve heard her crying more than I would ever want. It royally pisses me off to see her hurt so bad by the management of a company she’s poured her life into for almost four years. I’m convinced these people have no soul.
Regardless the outcome, I’m totally supporting her in all of this. She’s worked full time non stop since before she graduated college in ‘93. She deserves a break. Since God works in such awesome ways, it just so happens that I found out Friday what my yearly bonus is going to be. It’s a lot of money and let’s just say we were all incredibly surprised! The extra income from my bonus would make up for her previous monthly salary (if we manage it properly) and allow her to stay home and unemployed for seven months, if we wanted her to. But I doubt she’ll be able to sit idle for a quarter of that time. She likes to work and she likes to contribute. Her career means a lot to her, so I expect she’ll be jumping back into things soon. Speaking of jumping back, she’s had three companies, all with promising offers, wanting to interview her next week. We’ll see how it all turns out.
Well I just wanted my readers to know a little of what’s going on in my world. I guess, maybe too often, I touch on the more entertaining side of my life. Sometimes I need to get “real world” and let y’all know about less humorous subjects. To be honest I’m kind of looking forward to having her home. I’ve already told her I’m working on a list of chores that need to be done around the house. Tis the season for Spring cleaning after all!
I hope everyone had a great weekend. We sure did! I’m heading out of town for work later this week for a couple days, and this time I’m taking my wife with me. I’ll work all day and she can enjoy the nice accommodation’s in the hotels where we’ll be staying. It’ll be a nice getaway for her, and she’ll be able to see what it is I do when I’m out of town. Damn, I just realized something….I guess there won’t be any bar flirting for me on this trip! lol
I’ll blog at you again soon.
