The Perfect Weekend…
Posted by Chuck on February 19th, 2007
I had a pretty damn good weekend! It all started Friday during the early evening when I reconnected with an old friend.
A few days earlier I had gotten a wild hair and did a white pages search for a friend I hadn’t seen in twenty years. I found what I thought was his phone number, called and left him a message. Friday night around six he called me back and we ended up talking for an hour. Mark and I had been the best of friends from the time we met in the late 70’s till my family moved away in ‘84. We kept in touch for a few years afterward, but as it often happens, we lost touch. Well, this time I think we will keep in touch. He even emailed me a picture of he and I circa 1984. If it wasn’t such an embarrassing picture of me I’d post it here. Let’s just say I had a serious case of “scrawny wanna-be-redneckism” going on. Yeah, it’s pretty bad. Anyway, I was so happy to get to talk to him again. It’s wild the things you remember from the past when you’re talking with someone who was there.
Saturday, Susan and the kids and I headed into town to go to lunch and the mall. Around one thirty we dropped Susan off to get her hair cut and I drove the kids to their mother’s apartment. I’d decided to let them spend the night with her. She’s been doing quite well, from what I can see, and I figured I’ll let her have some time alone with them again. It’s been like seven months since they’ve spent any significant time alone with her.
Susan had put the makings for beef stew in the crock pot Saturday morning, so that evening we enjoyed the saucy meaty goodness she’d prepared. Later that night I let her enjoy another kind of saucy meaty goodness, and I assure you she wasn’t disappointed! Neither was I, for that matter…
We also watched that lame ass Lindsay Lohan movie, Just My Luck. True, it’s a total chick flick, but somehow I found myself enjoying it. Maybe it was just the vodka and the fact I’d just busted a load of nut gravy that made the movie so endurable.
On Sunday Susan and I found ourselves again alone, so we spent all morning staying in bed and making sweet, sweet love. No, actually that wasn’t the case. We both woke up around 10, heated up the leftover beef stew and watched tivo’d shit till around 2. She then left to go shop again for clothes for her new job, and I sat on the couch jacking off while watching Meet The Ancestors on History Channel International. Yep, it was an exciting afternoon. The ex brought the kids home by five and I made a delicious pan of baked Ziti for dinner. I know it’s carb laden, but I’d already cheated on Saturday. I figured I might as well finish screwing up the diet for the weekend!
Yes ladies and gentlemen, it was an all around good weekend! I hope your’s was as well. Today I’m heading out of town yet again for another food show. This time I’ll be in Huntsville, Alabama. I’ll be there till Wednesday and hopefully I’ll have an opportunity to blog. You can rest assured I’ll find the time if something as crazy as the last time happens!
Y’all have a good Monday!

Sounds like you and the Mrs. had a fantastic weekend! I’m very happy for you two — every couple needs some time to get back to the basics.

Crock pot stew does sound good. Do you think Susan would let you email me the recipe? I think it would be an easy meal to make once the baby comes.

Julie - It was good, you should give it a try sometime!
Snag - What’s a seasong? Is that like something pirates sing?
Khaki - I hope there was at least one or two good errands in there.
SoSweet - You’re right…the basics are important!
Sandy - I trust you made up a lot with the hubby!
Pixie - It was a recipe she found on Allrecipes.com I’ll see if I can track it down for you.
Bella - It sure was!
NoOne - I was glad to see it was working again too! lol

I’m a bit depressed. You went to the mall and watched a chik flick.
All is forgiven since you ate a big bowl of meaty beef stew
Glad you had a good weekend bud, as I did the same!
Watch out for them Alabama rednecks

Snag - I was merely trying to point out how terrible your spelling and grammar are. I was trying to shake off your short comings with humor.
Cherie - Uh, actually I think we do need more said. Batgirl? Please explain…
Slick - Hey man, I’d be careful with the redneck comments. If you live where I think you live, then you should know I’ve been there several times…I’d say, per capita, you’re swimming in more rednecks than I am! lol
Alyssa - Don’t worry. Chuck’s a good boy!!

Good friends. Good food. Good sex. How could it have been any better? Maybe waking up on Sunday to find you’ve hit the lottery?
February 21st, 2007 at 11:34 am
hmmmmm…..I don’t remember getting a call about you coming here, f’er!
February 21st, 2007 at 11:29 pm
Guy - Damn right man…hitting the lottery would make it prefect. But since that won’t ever happen (as you know we don’t have a lottery in Alabama) I’ll be content with the friend, food and sex!
Trick - Well dear, maybe you should check your caller ID sometime. We’ll get together on the next trip, if you can disconnect from your lover boy long enough!
