A Day In The Life Of Chuck….In Pictures….

Posted by Chuck on 28th February 2005

I have noticed that some of the blogs I read, like Mr. Dobb’s, have recently featured some random pictures from real life to go along with the post of the day. I kind of like this idea and thought I would make an attempt at it as well. Of course mine won’t be as exciting as his, but a fellow can try. I challenge all of you to take your digital cameras and add a little anonymous flair to your blogs. There is nothing in the pics you will see here that will give away too much about who I really am, or what my real name is! Ha!

I spend most of my day’s here at my desk. Working like a dog and trying to stay away from email and Yahoo Messenger. This is the place I read your blogs and the place where I post the ever so fascinating crap you read here.

There are times where I keep my son home with me from pre school and when he is here he spends most of the time up in his room being baby sat by Timmy Turner, Blue, Tom and Jerry and so many others. I do, of course, go up many times a day and check on him. I try to keep the puppy, Trooper, from following me upstairs. It’s important that he stay down below so he won’t bother the boy by nipping at his heels or crapping in his bedroom floor.

The boy is okay. He is watching Teen Titans and playing with his action figures. I take his cup to refill and head back downstairs, but before I do I stop in the bathroom to check out all the work I have done lately. The fresh paint and new accessories look fine, as does the cabinet I put up yesterday. It is a bit yellow in there though.

A little later I head out to take my daughter to a doctor appointment. I spend a lot of time of my time in the car. After the Dr visit it is back home to get back to work.

Oh, well….I just found out that Flickr has a pic posting monthly max for the free membership, damn. I guess I will have to figure out another way to post the next time. Does anyone have a suggestion for posting pics on blogs without using Hello? I guess I should ask Dobbs or Stuck how they do it.

You will just have to wait for the rest of the day and the nude pics! LOL

Up Chucking Some Photos….

Posted by Chuck on 27th February 2005

Good afternoon all! I have decided to take a step and add a photo album. You can find the link in the upper left hand section of my blog. Feel free to browse the pics and leave a comment or two. I will add some more soon.

Susan had to help set up at an event her company is having today so she was gone from around 9:30 this morning till noonish. I headed out to Home Depot again to see what else I could buy and screw up while trying to make it work. Since last weekend I had painted the kids bathroom upstairs, and yesterday I put up a fence, I thought today would be a good day to get a cabinet thing for over the toilet in the upstairs bathroom. I am a little more proud of this job (versus the fence job) so once I have it up I will take a pic for your inspection.

I have been slow cooking a pork butt all day and will be shredding it later to make barbecue. We will have that tonight along with baked beans, fries and coleslaw. Nothing like some country cooking to eat while watching The Academy Awards!

It’s cold and rainy so I am thinking a nap might be in order. Have a great day!

Not Much Of A Handy Man….

Posted by Chuck on 26th February 2005

God I suck. I am so not a builder or fixer kind of guy. Last night we went to Home Depot and I decided to buy a 50′ roll of 3′ fence along with 10 of the 4′ fence poles. I thought I would enclose part of the side yard so we could open the back door and let to puppy out to do his business. I woke up around seven this morning and got out there bright and early and began my fencing project. I was so into it, enjoying the cool morning air, hammering the posts into the ground and stretching the fence between them. I even broke a sweat, it felt so good! Well, once it was all done it looked like something a dirt poor redneck family would keep their chickens in. (no offense to any dirt poor redneck people who may be reading….hey, how did you afford a computer?) If I wasn’t too afraid of you guy’s jokes I would take and post a picture of the fencing job. Well, it looks like I will be hiring it done here soon. Guess I will go ahead and get the whole yard fenced in with the 6′ privacy fence. Two sides are already up, shouldn’t take more than a grand to finish the thing off.

Later, this afternoon, we went shopping at Old Navy. We buy probably 50% of my and the boy’s clothes from there. We usually shop Old Navy online, but thought we would go to one of the area stores instead. It is amazing how much $200 can buy at that place. We have L’s whole summer wardrobe pretty much wrapped up. We even got a couple polo shirts and four pairs of boxer shorts for me! After Old Navy we went across the street to my favorite chain restaurant, Outback. Mmmm, it was damn good!! After that we were off to Wal Mart to stock up on more junk, then on home.

Since we’ve been back home I have been steam cleaning the three bedrooms and hallway upstairs. Once this is posted I will be working on the downstairs; living room, my office, the master bedroom, powder room and hallway leading to the foyer. The foyer, kitchen and dining room isn’t carpeted thank goodness. Looks like I have my work cut out for me this evening.

In honor of the new NASCAR season I have submitted the following picture…..WARNING!! NOT WORK FRIENDLY!! Hope you ladies enjoy it!! :)

Y’all have a nice Saturday night!! Go get you some!

ROTFLMAO……

Posted by Chuck on 24th February 2005

Nothing too exciting to report today except this…..

I have spent the last 20 minutes reading and looking at the pictures on a blog called He Looks Like….The Morbid Game Of Psychoanalyzing Strangers In Pictures. You all need to go check it out. It would seem the blog owner(s) find random pictures from the internet and write a little story about the person(s) in the picture. Damn. Freaking. Funny! Check out the picture posted on 12-15-04, I think they found one of my old college roommate.

If the folks who own that site read this, I sure hope you don’t mind my review. I just might have some old pictures to send your way….Snagley beware….

Thanks Becky and Julie for the heads up!

All My Ex’s Live (I wish) In Texas….

Posted by Chuck on 23rd February 2005

Hello everyone. Before I begin I would just like to point out that yesterday marked the one month anniversary of What’s Up Chuck? All together between here and the old blog I have been at it for 8 months now. As of this minute I have had 5,907 visits to my little corner of Blogdom since January 23rd. Thanks for all your continued visits and comments. So many of you (sans Snag) have made my life much better just by your well wishes and advice. Thanks!!! (just kidding Snag)

Okay, well yesterday wasn’t the best day in my post divorce life. The ex called and asked if I would pick her up from the hospital today, I agreed then she asked to talk to T. Once she and T were off the phone my daughter told me that this weekend, when she and her brother stayed with their Mom, they might get a kitten (FA is jealous of the new puppy). Well I immediately got a little hot under the collar since I had already told FA that she would be having supervised visitation due to her continued “problems”. Once I left the house to go pick up my son from school I called FA and told her that I didn’t appreciate her telling T that she would be staying with her this weekend. I reminded her what I had told her on Saturday, about how she would be having supervised visitation for a while and that the kids would not be staying with her this weekend. I asked that, in the future, she not promise things that are not going to happen.

This did not go over too well. She began to freak out a bit telling me that all she was was depressed and she needed the company of the kids, and that she could NOT be without them. She went on to say that her Mother had suggested she find an attorney and she would pay for FA to fight me for the alimony and the kids. This pissed me off royally and I fired back with what her Mom had told me on the phone last week. I said to her,

Well that’s funny that your Mom would say that since she told me last Wednesday night that she wished you would just go ahead and kill yourself!!”

Okay folks, first of all that is never something someone wants to hear that their Mother has said about them, and secondly it is pretty damn pathetic that any Mother would say that about their child.

The phone call ended with me telling her she could find someone else to drive her ass home from the hospital and her screaming, “WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME??”, then hanging up. As soon as the phone was silent I immediately regretted what I had said and how I had handled the situation. That was pretty lousy of me.

Over the next 30 minutes I talked with my Dad and then Susan about what all had happened. See folks, the problem is this….Deep down I really have no fear of her being alone with the kids. I know that every “crazy” attempt she had made has been for attention. I have known this woman since 1989. She no more wants to die than I want to lick Saddam Hussein’s hairy shit streaked ass. I only took the “supervised visitation” step because others (her parents, my parents, Susan, etc.) had made comments like, “I wouldn’t let that crazy so and so be alone with your kids.” My Dad helped me realize that I needed to do what I felt was right, but he did say that I should demand to talk with her doctor before she spends any time alone with L&T.

About an hour after the terrible phone conversation she called me back. I told her that I had over reacted and shouldn’t have said what I had said. I also told her that I do not want to keep her from her kids, but I did want to know she was okay and that she would be on the road to full recovery. I told her that if I could speak with her doctor and get some professional assessment I would feel a lot better about it all. We had a pretty good conversation and I felt much better once it was over.

Fast forward to today at 1pm. I go to the hospital downtown to pick her up. Her social worker and doctor sat down with me in a conference room and told me that what she has is clinical depression. They said that many people have it and that it is not the end of the world. They said she would need to continue to get help and take medicine, but there is no reason why she shouldn’t become a normal member of society. They told me that it would all be up to her, if she wanted to take the steps, but they had no fear that she would be a threat to our kids.

Well, that made me feel better and the talk we had on the way to her place was good and up beat. I think (hope) things are looking up. As long as she doesn’t try to fight this elimination of alimony thing we should be alright. By the way, she admitted that her attempts were for attention! Yeah, I knew that already….I took her to lunch at Hooters and then to her apartment. I was back home by 3:30, ready to get back to work.

Thanks for all your good thoughts for me, my kids and this situation.

My Exciting Weekend…..

Posted by Chuck on 21st February 2005

Having just come off a pretty intense weekend I thought I would take a little time and recap for you the excitement that occurred:

Friday night I spent alone at a nice resort in Florida. One of my customers was having a big yearly kick off meeting and I, along with a handful of other vendors, were invited. Susan was unable to attend seeing as first of all, my ex was unavailable to keep the children, and secondly my son L came down with a nasty case of pink eye Thursday night. So I headed off all alone Friday to Destin and checked into the hotel. Once in my 13th floor junior suite I opened the glass door to the balcony, gazed out on the beach and ocean for a minute then crawled into bed falling asleep to the sound of the waves and gulls. Just a twenty minute power nap, but it was nice never the less.

That evening we had cocktails and dinner, followed by a long awards meeting. After this they reopened the bar and had live entertainment. I did no dancing though and spent most of the time out in the smoking area drinking beer. I overheard an interesting drunken conversation between two men. Seems one of the men received a blow job from him wife on the way down to the resort. The wife was present during the conversation and interrupted and described how once he had cum in her mouth she attempted to spit his load out the window, but missed and hit the inside of the car door. They laughed and I stood there, trying not to look like I was listening, and thought how odd it was that they were discussing this like other people may discuss the weather. I did get to talk with a good friend and her husband. That was about the highlight of the night. I ended up in bed by 10:30 and fell asleep watching the History Channel.

Saturday morning I was on the road by 7:15 driving the four hours back home. About 20 miles from home I get a call from the ex wife, who is still in the hospital in case you were wondering. The first half of the conversation was pretty light with chit chat, then she got into it. As I had worried she made an attempt to balk at the alimony thing. She told me she would pay me $200 a month in child support and I could pay her $300 in alimony. In other words I would just lower her check by $200 a month. I told her there was no way that would happen, that the legal action was already underway, and that both her parents agreed that doing it was the best thing. I also told her that she would probably find that most of her other support would be ending (from her Mother/Dad), and that for a time she wouldn’t be able to see the kids alone. I mentioned that this was for her own good, as she needs to focus on her own well being. I relayed to her that her Mother suggested to me on the phone that she move to New Jersey and live with her grandmother for a while. She didn’t take this all too well and the conversation that began with nice words ended with her sobbing so bad I couldn’t understand what she was saying. Finally I asked her if she wanted me to give her Mother the number to her room so she could call, and she said she did. I hung up then left her Mom a voice mail with the phone number included. I have heard nothing from either of them since. I think the ex may be getting released from the hospital today. Maybe I should call and check.

My daughter had gone camping all weekend with a friend and her family, so Susan and L and Trooper were the only ones home when I arrived. The boy and the dog greeted me appropriately, but Susan just said hello. When I asked if she was happy to see me she said,

You’ve only been gone a day, it’s not like you have been gone a month helping out tsunami victims in Asia.”

She said it as a joke, and it was pretty funny. We both laughed and I gave her a kiss. Then she hurried to get ready for her hair appointment. I took my pink eyed son to get his haircut and to return movies to Blockbuster. Susan called a couple hours later to say that she was on her way home and to also inform me that they had served wine at the spa where she got her trim and pedicure and that she had been “drunk as Cooter Brown.” I am not sure what she means when she says that but when she sang, “Everybody in the SPA getting tipsy,” I had to laugh. If you are not familiar with the song I suppose you won’t get that joke.

Late Saturday afternoon we took the boy and went to a couple furniture stores. We ended up buying a dining table, 6 chairs and matching side table/cabinet/buffet thing. It had to be ordered so we won’t get it for 6 weeks. We then went to a new restaurant and had an awesome meal. Quite full, we left there and proceeded to Home Depot where we bought two gallons of paint. One for the upstairs bathroom and another for the guest room. I intend to move my daughter from her smaller room to the guest room soon, when we can get her some new bedroom furniture. Susan had decided to change the theme of the kids bathroom for the second time since she has lived here. Last week she had bought all the new matching crap for the bathroom at Linens and Things and all that was left was the repainting to begin. Well, guess who found himself painting that room for the second time in a year and a half? It wasn’t too bad, the room isn’t that big. Once I had it all trimmed out I rolled the rest in 15 minutes. Later that evening, as a thank you, Susan gave me a nice blow job!

Yesterday morning my daughter returned from her camping trip and we worked on cleaning house some. At lunch the kids and I went to Krystal for some “gut bombs” and then on to Walmart for some shopping. I let them call and talk to their Mother on the way back to the house. Back home we cleaned some more then Susan went out to WM to get some things I had forgotten. I made a great dinner of pork tenderloin, rice and green bean casserole and we all watched some television together as a family while eating our apple pie with vanilla icecream for desert. I can never watch this show without shedding a tear or two. Once the kids were in bed Susan, Trooper and I got in bed and I watched movies till sleep hit me.

Now it is Monday and President’s Day. I have a lot of work to do so I guess I will end this for now. Hope you all are doing well!
