Well, I couldn’t sleep….

So here I am…adding to my blog. I had intended to get in bed early tonight due to my Dr. apt. in the morning, but after cleaning the kitchen, putting a load in the dryer, and straightening up the living room I found myself still awake and needing to blog…Oh, and I talked to Jim too….he is doing well, in case you were wondering.
I’d like to talk to you all about my good friend, let’s call him Mark, who (if you have been reading) you might remember that he, his wife and me and my ex went out to dinner on Valentine’s Day back in ‘03. That was also the night that Susan and I met online, and it was also the night that my ex, FA, was already planning on leaving me. Anyway….let’s talk about Mark…
We met in the summer of 1989. I had already been accepted to a college here in Alabama. He was down in Florida and a mutual friend introduced us, as he was a student of the same Alabama college. After a semester Mark and I became room mates. He was a little different than anyone else I had ever met in my life. When I would travel home for the weekend I would use a duffel bag (army issue) to take home my dirty laundry. He used a old, worn out cardboard box. Once we were room mates in the dorm, he slept on the top bunk and I was on the bottom. During our late night talks he would blow spit bubbles down just as I would look up to talk with him. He had talent that way! Mark was different that anyone I had ever met. And I hated those spit bubbles landing on my face!
Then, later, we became somewhat famous for being the two guys in the fraternity that grew over 4 inches of hairy mold in his hot pot in our dorm room. Even to this day I have a picture of Mark holding that hot pot with the mold. What an image…wish ya’ll could see it. If I had a scanner you would! He was so totally different than anyone else I had ever met. Not only was he a male cheerleader for the University, but he quickly became my best friend. We did some crazy shit…like the time we convinced our frat bro, K, to strip down to his underwear and get into one of those mesh laundry bags. Once we had tied off the bag we picked him up, carried him across campus and dumped him off in the lobby of one of the girl’s dorms. It was so very funny…..I am sure you can imagine…and there was many more “crazy” times!!!
Well “Mark”, I hope you and your family are doing well. I miss you a whole lot. We live no more than 3o minutes from each other, but hardly ever see one another. I would love for you and “W” and me and Susan to get together again sometime soon. Seeing as you and I have such a past together (remember the nights with those awesome potato chips and the time we went painting the rock?) I really want to spend more time with you. You need to teach me more about fishing and gun shooting!!!
Okay, thats is all for tonight. Just taking a trip down the nostalgic highway…..
Going to bed…..
Later ya’ll….
